Nine Mothers is my first short film, shot in January 2024 and edited in multiple versions between 2024-2025. To view the film please contact me for the link. Stills from the film are shown below.
Nine Mothers explores cycles of care and living through conception, birth, life, and death. Focused on the most common and mundane of acts, but one which is politicized and made exceptional through our culture, Nine Mothers imagines a world where women can conceive, look after each other, birth their children, and pass into death with care and dignity. In this picture, there is safety, joy, sensuality, and labor without danger, repercussion, or any of the weight or trauma that accompanies these acts in the real world.
The film features performers Angela Bortone, Moya Jackson, Haylee Anne, Lauren Forrest, Zeke Forrest, Aria Bate, Elizabeth Ives, and Jessica Caldas with film assistance from Joshua Jackson and Mandy St. Peter.
Nine Mothers has been shown at CICA Museum in Incheon, South Korea in 2024 and at Pennant Place in Gainesville, FL in 2025.
